It’s finally (almost) done! <(￣︶￣)>
I’ve migrate to my new VPS with upgrade spec and probably more secure since I login with SSH now. I pretty much spend around 2-3 days trying to figure how what to do to improve my VPS and speed etc.
Like for example my art site. It takes around 20 sec to load one page like ten art thumbnail but when I use VPS it take almost a minute to load one page so… It’s too slow for my liking. So I try to optimized it by going back to all of my posts (200 posts+ lol) and compressed them into jpg. And also use Bunny.net CDN to pull my content but I’m still testing it! Kind of want to know which will be faster to load between having Bunny cdn pull my image or I upload them and hotlink image in my storage zone.
In the progress I also learn how to change name server to change my names erver for domain to bunny dns but eh… I’ve move it back now. Not that it’s not good because It does improve my art site to load faster like a lot faster. It only take 5s to load page that normally take 20s. But I move it back because it conflict with my VPS since I use Yunohost to host my site.
I also attempted to use jerkyll but give up
I use hugo for all of my static sites except commission site because I use retype for that instead.
Before I try to compress my image I look for alternative static site generator (SSG) to use so maaaaaaaaaaaaay be idk it help speed thing up? I don’t know. I’ve been eyeing Jerkyll for a long time now before I even use linux or learn how to use hugo. So now I’ve tried them I think I will stick with hugo and astro (；⌣̀_⌣́)
Why? Um I think it doesn’t worth the hassle of getting it to work. For the record I use ubuntu budgie. So I follow the intruction of ubuntu installation guide and I get the same problem with this issue. Although in my case, Unfortunately gem update doesn’t work… so I did try to learn to use RVM(Ruby version manager) but before that I did went through some trial and error of installing all dependency on my own since er the repo for ubuntu always results in error for me.
Now that I learn how to lunch gem command inside of RVM… eh.. I just know that it doesn’t come out read to use out of the box. Something like basic tags or archive which annoyed me a lot to the point I’m just fuck it, I’m out lol I mean I did expect it to work out of the box for basic functions for you know… blog!
Maybe I will try it again, I don’t know. Jerkyll does have a lot of pretty theme tho. Maybe if I can’t figure out how to improve speed maybe I will just use wordpress with bunny cdn plugin so it will just do that for me. (would really love to use off loader but eh I can’t) But honestly I think that might be better since I draw like 100+ arts a year so it’s going to filled up a lot. Or maybe I should just use photo gallery webapp? I will figure it out!
